St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School Alumni

St. Francis High School has been blessed with years of success in academics, athletics and fine arts. Whether you graduated in 1949, this year, or anywhere in between, you are an important part of our alumni community!

Our Aumni Association was formed in 1918 and all graduates of St. Francis High School from 1912 until that date were made charter members. Our first officers were President, Julius Weidner, Vice-president, Miss Henriette Breufig, Secretary, Miss Eliz Hockenschneider, treasurer Veronica Fuchs and Historian Virginia Eisenmenger.

A few years after the formation of the Alumni Association yearly celebrations began being held. In May of 2023 the 100th Alumni Celebration was held on the school grounds. Hundreds of alumni and their friends came to spend the day together, tour the schools and welcome the newest members at the banquet to end the night. Spirit of St. Francis Alumni Newsletter

The Spirit of St. Francis is a printed publication prepared by the Development office in partnership with the high school English department, providing real world writing opportunities for students.

The publications are mailed to alumni and friends of St. Francis School, and can also be found online beginning with the July 2022 edition.

Distinguished Alumni Award

Each year a member of our Alumni is selected to received the Distinguished Alumni award. This award recognizes the dedication and sacrifices the individual has made for their parish, community and alma mater. They embody the spirit of St. Francis.

This year’s recipient was Mary Helen Fuchs, Former Teacher.

Flyer Athletic Hall of Fame

The old saying goes, you don’t know what you had till it’s gone. This was especially true during the 2021-2022 sports season for members of the athletic board. This was the first time in 40 years that Ron and Ann Denkinger were no longer on the board. The other members quickly realized just how much the Denkingers did behind the scenes, never expecting any praise or thanks. It was this that sparked a brilliant idea by Lori Reichmuth to create a Hall of Fame. The Denkingers were surprised and inducted as the first members during halftime of a boys basketball game.

There are plans to create a hall of fame board where the Denkingers, along with future inductees will be displayed. The athletic board welcomes any nominations.
