Deacons are called to serve. The very word "deacon" is taken from the Greek word diakonia, meaning service. Deacon Dennis has a number of roles and responsibilities within the liturgy or Mass. They include announcing the Penitential rite, proclaiming the Gospel, preaching the Homily, voicing the general intercessions assisting with the Eucharistic gifts, serving as a minister of the Eucharist, purifying the vessels after communion, and dismissing the people at the conclusion of the Mass. He can perform Baptisms and marriages. He often performs wake services and may also preside at funeral services. Outside of the liturgy, Deacon Dennis teaches RCIA and when time allows, ministers to the sick and poor.

My name is Jody Preister and I am Pastoral Minister for Humphrey St. Francis of Assisi Church. My job is to work closely with our parish priest and do what I can to help others in need. Sometimes I provide transportation to appointments or errands. Sometimes I assist with paperwork or directing those in need to the right resources. Sometimes I just provide a listening ear. I also enjoy doing visitations at care centers, hospitals, institutions, and in the home. I believe my purpose in this life is to be an encourager to others and a light that shines through the darkness for our Lord. With each encounter, I am extremely blessed and humbled. I consider it an honor and privilege to do the work I do and feel I am exactly where the Lord wants me to be right now. Please contact me if I can be of any assistance to you.
