Academics

Home St. Francis SchoolAcademics

Elementary (K-6)

We offer a rigorous academic program including Guided Reading, Saxon Math, VoWac phonics and language arts, social studies, science, and Accelerated Reader.  In addition to these, elementary students participate in Specials including Physical Education, music, computers, Spanish, art, library and guidance.  While academics are important, the frequent reception of the Holy Eucharist is vital to our mission.  Student Masses are celebrated four times a week during the school day. Students can participate in the sacrament of reconciliation monthly.

Junior High (Grades 7-8)

At the junior high level, students’ academics consist of language arts, math, social studies, science, theology, music, PE, computers and art. Students can participate in Student Council. With sports practices held outside of the school day, students have opportunities to participate in multiple activities in one season.

High School (Grades 9-12)

High school students are required to take four years of theology, reading and math; three years of science and social studies; two years of foreign language; one an a half years of physical education/health; one year of fine arts; one year of communications; and one year of business classes, one of which must be personal finance. Students have access to a Chapel in the school and participate in the celebration of Mass once a week. There are a variety of extracurricular opportunities for students to participate in along with Student Council National Honor Society. Extra-curricular activities include cross country, volleyball, football, basketball, golf, track, one act and speech.
